Pankshin (Plateau), May 9, 2017 (NAN) Mr Stephen Jings, Chairman, Interim Management Committee of Pankshin Local Government in Plateau, on Tuesday inaugurated a 10-man committee on fertiliser distribution.

Jings, in a brief speech at the ceremony, said that food sufficiency was a major priority of the APC-led government in Plateau.

Represented by Mr Philip Damilak, Councillor for Works, Jings said that the council had provided 10 trucks of fertiliser for distribution to farmers, in the first phase.

He emphasised the need for equitable distribution of the commodity so that every farmer would have enough to shore up his or her production capacity.

Jings also advised the committee to be fair to all, and warned against shoddy deals that could frustrate efforts toward a bountiful harvest.

He urged the people to be patient with government as only 10 trucks of the commodity had arrived, saying that more were expected “very soon”.

The chairman called on farmers to work very hard, and promised that government would continue to support them with the required inputs.

In a response, Mr Philip Bashok, Chairman of the committee, thanked the council boss for finding them worthy to serve on the committee.

“By God’s grace, we shall discharge our duty with utmost diligence; we shall not abuse the confidence reposed on us considering the importance of the assignment,” Bashok said. (NAN)
