Lagos May 10, 2018 (NAN) Thirty coaches and referees are participating in a two-day seminar organised by Pan African Martial Arts International (PANAMAI) in Lagos to update them on the latest trends in Taekwondo.
Ferguson Oluigbo, the Chief Instructor of PANAMAI, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thurssday that the programme was organised to educate officials on the new rules introduced by the world body.
Oluigbo, who is also the President of the Nigeria Taekwondo Referees Association, said the programme would enable participants to be at par with their counterparts around the world.
He said: “This seminar is put together to inform and update coaches and referees on the newly introduced rules in Taekwondo.
“Moreso, I just got back from Dakar, Senegal where I attended the World Taekwondo seminar and the new rules introduced will take effect from June.
“So, it is imperative to update our coaches and referees and also test what they have learn here at the forthcoming Agoma Festival next week in Lagos.
He advised the participants to use the knowledge acquired to develop athletes in the sport.
