PANAFEST

Lagos, Jan. 9, 2017 (NAN) The Pan African Historical Theatre Festival (PANAFEST) had concluded plans to celebrate its 25th anniversary in Ghana between February and July.
Mr Kehinde Olufunsho, PANAFEST’s representative in the country on Monday told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the celebration is a cultural event held biennial for Africans and people of the African descent.
The idea of the festival is to promote and enhance unity, Pan-Africanism, and the development of the African continent.
He said that the proposed celebration would take place in 25 countries, starting in February after which the grand finale would hold in Ghana by July.
“Activities lined up for the celebration will be performances and works in the areas of theatre, drama, music, and poetry.
“The celebration will be in : the U.S., – North America, Nigeria, Cuba, Jamaica and South Africa among others,” he said.
The PANAFEST representative added that the organisation had been able to bring back over 5, 000 Africans in the Diaspora to their roots.
He said that the organisation held meetings to discuss problems faced by African politically, economically and proffered solutions to them.
“We have been able to prove the white wrong that we are not black monkeys who lived in jungles but civilised individuals.
“We have been able to bring back over 5,000 blacks in the Diaspora to their roots and had made them uphold their culture,” Olufunsho said.
He said that PANAFEST had been able to bring back Africans in the Diaspora to discuss issues pertinent to the advancement of the Africa continent.
“We have created formidable bridges across Africa nations,” he said. (NAN)
