Ikorodu (Lagos State), March 15, 2017 (NAN) A 32-year-old man, Ade Olaroye, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly stealing some ferry boat chairs worth N2million.
The accused who resides in Majidun area of Ikorodu, pleaded not guilty to a two- count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. John Ibenerem, told the court that the accused and one other still at large, stole the chairs from a ferry parked at Origin Garden, along Ipakodo, Ebute Road in Ikorodu.
“ The owner of the ferry, who identified himself as Prince Kosoko, had reported that some chairs in his ferry had been stolen.
“It was one of his workers that saw some of them where they were displayed for sale, so he alerted the owner and the police arrested the accused,’’ he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Origin Garden is one of the major jetties where boats and ferries meant for water transportation are parked in Ikorodu.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 409 and 285 of Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
NAN reports that Section 285 stipulates three years’ jail term for the offender if found guilty.
The magistrate, Mrs A. A. Shoniyi, however, granted the accused N 100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till April 13, for further hearing. (NAN)
