Ibadan, Dec. 11, 2016 (NAN)The Oyo State Government on Sunday in Ibadan condemned the activities of hoodlums who had invaded the Kudeti and Isale Asaka areas of Ibadan.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Toye Arulogun, the State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, and made available to newsmen in Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that some  hoodlums had been reported to be terrorising some communities in the metropolis.

Arulogun said that the full apparatus of government would be deployed to deal with any individual who engages in violence inimical to the peace of the state.

He stated that government had directed relevant security agencies to deal with the perpetrators, adding that acts of thuggery and hooliganism in the state would not be condoned.

“We appeal to residents of the affected areas to remain calm and consequently call on security agencies in the state to increase their presence in the area and others so as to forestall a recurrence of the ugly incidents.

“We want to assure our people that we value their well-being, lives and property and we will at all times live up to expectations to provide security for them,” he said.

Arulogun said that the government would beef up security around the state during the festive period, adding that security, the foundation of development, would not be trivialised.

Meanwhile, the state government would on Tuesday hold another edition of its town hall meeting in furtherance of its drive to engage the citizens on government programmes and activities.

The commissioner explained that the town hall meeting would create opportunity for government to have direct interaction and feedback from the citizens.

“The town hall meeting will serve as a platform for communication and engagement between the government, the governed and other key stakeholders.

“The meeting will be conducted in Yoruba and English languages at the Harmony Gardens, Gedu Estate in Saki, for citizens in the 10 local government areas of the Oke Ogun area of the state,” he said.

Arulogun said that he meeting would ride on the success of the Ibadan version to adequately inform the people of Oke Ogun about government’s policies, plans, programmes and activities.

He said that the platform would help to effectively forestall misinformation, misunderstanding, rumour peddling, mischief and other erroneous impressions that may end up misleading the general public.

Arulogun said that government was committed to driving this engagement initiative around the state with a view to further effectively enlightening and mobilising the populace and citizenry toward understanding and supporting the vision of government.(NAN)
