Otaru of Auchi drums support for immunisation activities

Auchi (Edo), Feb. 1, 2018 (NAN) The Otaru of Auchi, Edo, Alhaji Haliru Momoh, Ikellebe the III, has called on traditional rulers to support immunisation activities in the country.
Momoh made the appeal at a sensitisation meeting with traditional rulers and religious leaders in his Palace at Auchi on Thursday.
He urged community leaders across Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the state to sensitise their various communities to embrace the immunisation programme.
The traditional ruler also charged members of the Edo taskforce on immunisation and development partners to ensure that children between the ages of nine and 59 months were vaccinated against measles in the March 1 to 6, exercise in the state.
He said immunisation has being part of the early lives of our children as it prevents killer diseases.
“It is an important project and we will do our best to support the programme and enlighten our people to make the exercise effective as possible,’’ Momoh said.
He enjoined residents to stop the habit of bush burning to check the spread of Lassa fever in the state.
The traditional ruler commended Gov. Godwin Obaseki for his relentless work to improve the well being of the people.
Earlier, the Deputy Gov. Of the state, Mr Philip Shaibu, said the taskforce on immunisation were on an advocacy to the palace to get support and encourage people to participate in the programme while it lasts.
Shaibu said the present administration want to achieve success in primary healthcare, noting that the feat will be translated to secondary and tertiary health facilities in the state. (NAN)
