Osogbo, May 10, 2017 (NAN) The Speaker of Osun House of Assembly, Mr Najeem Salaam, has urged commissioner nominees to shun nepotism and favoritism in the discharge of their duties, if confirmed.

Salaam gave the charge at the screening of nominees for the position of commissioners and special advisers at the plenary session of the Assembly on Wednesday in Osogbo.

The speaker told the nominees that they were appointed to oversee the affairs of the state and relate with the citizens irrespective of their political leanings or religious beliefs.

He urged the nominees to also be watchful, open and give their best in serving the people of the state.

“It must be sounded that the task ahead of you is a thankless job which could be daunting sometimes.

“But if total commitment is given and the lucky candidates give their job emotional attachment, then their names could be registered as men who are doing their jobs”.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the present administration in Osun had been without commissioners and special advisers since its inauguration on Nov. 27, 2014.

Gov. Rauf Aregbesola, on April 11 forwarded names of 39 nominees for the position of commissioners and special advisers to the State House of Assembly for consideration and confirmation. (NAN)
