Ile-Ife (Osun), Jan. 23, 2018 (NAN) Executive Secretary, Ife-East Local Government Area, Mr Olusegun Adeyeni, has warned youths in the area against violence in Saturday’s local government elections in the state.
Adeyeni told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Ile-Ife that the youths should not allow themselves to be used as tools of violence by politicians during the polls.
“If any politician wants to hire you for a dirty job, you should ask him to use his children, wards or relatives.
“`Therefore, don’t waste your time and your precious life for anybody that won’t remember you when he gets to the post,” he advised.
He urged the youths to strive hard to attain good life, reminding them that youths were the future leaders and should plan their lives for brighter future.
The council scribe appealed to political parties and their supporters to ensure a violence-free poll, urging that they should give peace a chance in the state.
He urged politicians to play the game by the rules, and advised the electorate to follow the guidelines the State Independent Electoral Commission would provide so that none of them would foul the law. (NAN)
