Abuja, Dec. 19, 2017 (NAN) Organisers of the Chika Chukwumerije Sports Foundation (CCSF) Kiddies Taekwondo Tournament on Tuesday said they have moved the tourney to January of 2018 from the earlier scheduled Tuesday to Thursday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the tourney was to be organised by CCSF in conjunction with the FCT Taekwondo Association and was earlier scheduled to hold in Abuja.
Chika Chukwumerije, Founder of CCSF and TFN board member, told NAN that the organisers decided to postpone the event to early next year due to NTF’s tight schedule in recent times.
“We have decided to move the kiddies programme to next year.
“We have had our hands full in recent times. In addition to all our programmes this year, we also had our inaugural tournament, which was the Nigeria Taekwondo Open.
“This had added too much pressure on the organisers.
“So, the organisers as well as most of the participants voted that the tournament be shifted to the end of January or first week in February.
“We will adopt that cycle for the 2018 cycle,” he said.
The tourney is a grassroots development programme purely for kids whose ages range between 6 and 10 years.
The tournament has already got the nod of the Taekwondo Federation of Nigeria (TFN), since CCSF is an affiliate of the federation.
NAN also reports that no fewer than 300 children were expected to take part in the tourney which was to be held at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja.(NAN)
