Lagos, May 18, 2018 (NAN) Some teams in the ongoing 4th Lagos State Secondary Schools Handball Championships, tagged “OPEIFA CUP’’ on Friday praised the Lagos State Handball Association (LSHA) for presenting them with sports kit.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 16 teams that qualified for the quarter-finals stage in all the categories got sports Jerseys.
Temilola Adeleye, of Wesley Girl’s Grammar School, Yaba, praised Adeola Opeifa and the LSHA for the gift which, she said, had made the championships remarkable and encouraging.
“Daddy Opeifa is doing everything to encourage us, even the association, so I really appreciate them because with this we are going to appear more beautiful on the court,’’ she said.
Adenowale Aisha from CMS Grammar School, Bariga, told NAN that the gift was a surprise to them because they did not expect such from the organisers.
“This is the first time that we are getting this kind of gift and we are happy about it because we are going to appear different and colourful in subsequent edition,’’ she said.
Similarly, Coach Anthony Uchechukwu of CMS Grammar School, who benefited from the gesture, told NAN that the organisers had continued to enhance the profile of the championships with each edition.
“We have been participating in this competition and each edition comes up with improvement; the organisers have made this 4th edition to be exceptional which is commendable,’’ the coach said.
Meanwhile, Opeifa, the immediate past Chairman of LSHA, told NAN that the idea was to appreciate teams that progressed to the quarter-finals and to aid the development of the sport in schools.
Opeifa added that participants would be given certificates, medals, stationeries, bags and trophies to winners in various categories, including the Most Valuable Players and best Goalkeepers. (NAN)
