Abuja, May 23, 2017 (NAN) Friday Omeben has been elected the representative of technical bodies on the board of the Nigeria Squash Federation (NSF).
Omeben who defeated Sani Mohammed 14-1 to win assured athletes and technical officials of a turnaround in the federation.
“I will ensure that coaches get their dues in the country without denying athletes their rights.
“It is a fact that if you develop a coach’s capacity, you have developed many athletes in the country.
“So, there is need for people with technical knowledge to be part of the decision-making in the board.
“That opportunity has now been created and we will work harder to develop the sport in Nigeria,” he said.
Samuel Aminu, the Secretary-General of the Federation, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after the election that the process was free and fair and thanked God for a peaceful poll.
He said in spite of the challenges, everything turned out well.
NAN reports that the election for the athletes’ representative was held on Friday in Lagos.
Elections for the Federation’s President and Vice-President will hold in Abuja on June 13.(NAN)
