Keffi (Nasarawa State), Nov. 6, 2017 (NAN) The 1981 graduates of Government College, Keffi, Nasarawa State, on Monday donated 91 beds and mattresses to the school.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the donation was the second in one week, coming after the 1974 graduates donated 111 beds and mattresses to the institution.

Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar, Chairman of the 1981 class, who presented the items to the school’s Principal, Mr Albert Adeka, said that the gesture was to complement government’s efforts toward a better life for boarding students.

He called on other old students to emulate the donors by assisting the school in its areas of need, and stressed the need for more personal and corporate investments into the education sector to boost quality.

“Education is the surest way to a better society; it is the surest way to secure the future of the youths. We must all invest in it and leave a good legacy for unborn generations,” he said.

Abubakar said that the beds and mattresses would improve the living conditions in the hostels, and advised the students to be serious with their studies so as to excel in their academic pursuit.

Mr Sam Israel, Chairman, Nasarawa State chapter of the Keffi Old Boys Association, commended the 1981 set for the donation, and urged other old boys to contribute their quota toward restoring the glory of the school.

Israel commended the state government for renovating and equipping the school with modern facilities, and urged students to reciprocate that gesture by being serious with their studies.

Adeka, who received the items, commended the old students for the donation and promised to ensure judicious use of the materials. (NAN)
