Abuja, March 7, 2017 (NAN) Kaduna state on Tuesday beat  Ogun 1-0 at the ongoing NYSC Sports and Cultural Festival in Abuja.

The match took place at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10, football pitch, Abuja.

Dauda Usman of Kaduna scored the only goal in the 31st minute after capitalising on a mistake by Ogun defender, John Ogah.

Captain Shetima of Kaduna  could have scored the second goal but his header was saved by Ogun keeper.

Head Coach of Kaduna State team, Adekunle Adedoyin, said he felt great winning the match which  qualified  them for the quarter finals of the competition.

“Honestly speaking, I feel great about it, I give all glory to Almighty God for giving me victory today; it was a nice victory and a very good competition.

“It was a fantastic match and my players played according to instructions but we have some little mistakes which I believe were going to work on it before our next game”. he said.

Adedoyin also said “I want to thank the coordinators of this festival both the NYSC officials and in the FCT for giving us such a warm welcome. This event has been completely in a good shape,’’.

Udos Julius, head coach of Ogun told NAN that he was okay with the result.

“I feel alright, it is just the spirit of the game, sometimes you play and win and sometimes you lose. But that is not the end of the world.

“But I must confess sincerely, that it was a good game.

“My players tried very well but you never can tell what will happen in the field of play.

“When you expect a player to be at his best, but you get something else, all you do is to bring in the spirit of sportsmanship,” he said. (NAN)
