NYSC Road Safety Club embarks on health project in Bayelsa

Yenagoa, June 15, 2017 (NAN) The NYSC Road Safety Club (RSC) of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bayelsa Command, has embarked on `Giving Help’ project for sick persons at Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa.

Mr Collins Chukwumeka, Leader of the corps members told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Yenagoa after their visit to the Hospital that the project was part of their Community Development Service (CDS).

Chukwumeka said that the project was targeted at accident victims and other sick persons.

“This is a continuous project aimed at promoting selfless service; we are going to give help to so many sick persons including, accident victims; the project started today, June 15.

“Right now, we have visited some of them in the hospital wards of the FMC; only today, about 39 persons benefitted from the items we have; some were given cash, while some received drugs.

“We do not have specific amount for each person; we gave some N10,000 and some N5,000 depending on their health condition.

“Some other people received beverages such as tea, milk, biscuit as well as toiletries.”

Chukwumeka saod that the group also planned to establish of Road Safety Club in various secondary schools in Bayelsa, among other projects.

“Yes, this is a call to selfless service and we will not relent on our efforts to contribute our quota to nation building because Nigeria is our land.

“FRSC has been helpful to us and to other corps members; I urge them to keep doing the good things for the betterment of the nation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Obudah Bibobara, Senior Special Welfare Officer of the hospital, described the group’s gesture as a welcome development and urged them to sustain it.

Mr Richard Bisong, Sector Head, Special Marshal Unit of FRSC, Bayelsa, also urged the corps members to continue to be selfless.

Bisong commended them on their patriotism and selfless service to the FRSC and urged them to always do their best to achieve the aspirations of the scheme. (NAN)
