Abuja, March 13, 2017 (NAN) The Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) on Monday said it had certified hotels in Kaduna State ready for tourism activities
The Assistant Director, Press Unit of the corporation, Mrs Adamma Afanga told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the inspection of the hotels was in view of the six-week closure of the Abuja International Airport.
Afanga said that the inspection was carried out by the acting Director-General of the Corporation, Mrs Mariel Rae-Omoh, and other officials.
“It is to ascertain the readiness of the hotels to receive the expected tourists to Kaduna State and the entire country,’’ she said.
She said that the corporation would soon kick-start a nationwide inspection of activities in hotels without costs to the hotel operators to ensure standardisation of all their operations.
“This exercise will start from Abuja and later spread to other parts of the country with the collaboration of states and FCT Tourists Boards as well as Local Government Tourism Committees,’’ she said.
Afanga, therefore, reiterated the commitment of NTDC toward promoting tourism activities.
According to her, this will increase the nation’s Gross Domestic Product and create job opportunities for unemployed persons. (NAN)
