Kaduna, Feb. 22, 2017(NAN) The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says it will send 10, 000 of its personnel to be trained by the Nigerian Army ahead of plans to set up its Ranch Rangers Unit.
The Commander General of the Corps, Abdullahi Gana made the disclosure when he visited the Commander of Infantry Corps, Jaji, Maj.-Gen Isidore Edet, and his counterpart at the Depot Nigerian Army Zaria, Brig.-Gen Christopher Musa.
Gana said the visit was to seek the support of the institutions for the training of the personnel.
He said that the Federal Government plans to facilitate the establishment of about 300 ranches nationwide, which would be secured by the corps.
Gana said the Army School of Infantry is required to address officers’ training with regards to command and control and management, while the Depot would train NSCDC personeel in combat, horse and motorbike riding among others.
The NSCDC boss disclosed that the first batch of 2,500 personnel would commence a rigorous three months training in March 2017, and another batch of 2,500 operatives in 2018.
“The remaining 5,000 personnel would be recruited and trained for six months
in 2019 and 2020 to make up the entire 10,000 needed.”
In their separate remarks, the two army commanders said they would commence the training as soon as they receive clearance from the Chief of Army Staff.(NAN)
