Dutse, Jan. 17, 2017 (NAN) The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday said it recovered 500m of power transmission cable suspected to be vandalised in Miga Local Government Area of Jigawa.

The Spokesman for the state command of the corps, Mr Adamu Abdullahi, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse.

Abdullahi said that the cable was recovered in Takalafiya-Zareko Village, following an intelligence report.

“The items were recovered based on intelligence report by members of the community, but unfortunately, the suspects ran away before we got there,” he said.

The spokesman told NAN that the corps had intensified efforts to bring the perpetrators to book.

Abdullahi urged the state residents to give security agencies necessary support and cooperation for them to safeguard government installations in their localities.

“Protecting or safeguarding such facilities and others is not only the duty of NSCDC or other security agencies, but a collective responsibility.

“People must contribute their quota by watching over such facilities and reporting suspicious movements around such facilities,” he said. (NAN)
