NSCDC nabs 8 suspected thieves in Jigawa

Dutse, Jan. 17, 2017 (NAN) The Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday said it had arrested eight suspects for alleged house breaking and theft.

The Spokesperson of the command, Mr Adamu Abdullahi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse that the suspects were arrested in Taura Local Government Area of the state.

Abdullahi said the suspects were arrested after they had allegedly broke into the residence of one Hadiza Sale in Gujungu town on Jan. 12 at about 4 p.m.

He explained that five of the suspects were arrested on the same day, while one of them was arrested on January 15.

The spokesperson added that two of the suspects were arrested on Jan. 16 by the corps intelligence officers operating in the area.

According to him, two boxes, containing several textile materials, 10 measure of rice, one carton of spaghetti were recovered from the suspects which they allegedly stole from the victim.

The spokesman further said that the suspects were arrested with an Opel Cadet car with Reg. No. XX 601 KMC which they used in carrying out the crime.

“During our investigation, we discovered that all of the suspects were drug addicts and two of them are from Kano, while the rest are from Jigawa”.

According to him, the corps has launched a manhunt to arrest the ninth suspect who is at large.

Abdullahi added that the suspects, who had confessed to committing the crime, would soon be charged to court. (NAN)
