Ilorin, Aug. 7, 2018 (NAN) The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, has arrested four suspects, Akintayo Taofeeq, 19, Akeem Alata, 41, Rasheed Yusuf, 40, and Anifowoshe Saka, 34 years old, for allegedly selling an adulterated product.

The Public Relation Officer of the command, Mr Ayodele Bello said that on Aug. 2, one of the suspects, Taofeeq, was arrested for selling adulterated anti-infection solution.

Bello said that the suspect was arrested while marketing the product to one of the under-cover officers of NSCDC.

“He confessed to diluting a drop of insecticide with a bottle of water and packaging same for public consumption

“The suspect upon interrogation gave a lead to three other suspects who are the producers of the adulterated product, under the guise of Neolife International,” he said.

He said that the three other suspects, Alata, Yusuf and Saka were arrested in their office at Golden Neolife Dynamite International, Surulere, in Ilorin.

The State Commandant of the corps, Mr Adeyinka Fasiu, advised the general public to always scrutinise consumables they purchased and promptly report any suspected person or group of persons associated with adulterated and fake products.

One of the suspects, Taofeeq, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the anti-infection solution was given to him by his superior in the office, Mr Alase Abdulganiyu, to be sold on daily basis.

“I started selling just two weeks ago, and my oga, Mr Alase, produced and supplied the product in our office, at Surulere, and usually pays me in the evening after sales,” he said.

The other suspects: Alata, Yusuf and Saka, however, denied their involvement, saying that the company had warned them against selling adulterated product and that they were arrested in the office while working for Neolife International. (NAN)
