Ilorin, Jan. 15, 2017 (NAN) Newly-promoted Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Football Club of Ilorin on Sunday defeated Akwa United FC of Uyo 3-1 in a 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in the match played at the Kwara Stadium Complex in Ilorin new signing Metu Chigozirim was a nightmare for the visiting side.
Chigozirim had dribbled ghosted past defenders on the flank for a cross which striker Mohammed Mohammed nodded in for the first goal in the 13th minute.
But the hosts’ lead only lasted six minutes before Godspower Igudia outsmarted ABS FC defenders to head home the equaliser from a corner kick.
However, Stone Evbuomwan’s pass to the far left found Chigozirim who was upended by an Akwa United defender’s clumsy tackle for a 30th minute penalty kick.
Evbuomwan stepped forward to take it and he made no mistake by stretching goalkeeper Olufemi Kayode to his far left for their second goal.
Abubakar Chindo who replaced Arinze Oyota only lasted nine minutes on the field before scoring in the 65th minute to make it 3-1.
NAN reports that ABS FC will now face Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna in Lokoja on Wednesday in their Match Day 2 fixture.(NAN)
