Kuala Lumpur, March 2, 2017 (dpa/NAN) The Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi said on Thursday that North Korean nationals who want to travel to Malaysia will have to apply for visas starting from next week.

“The decision is meant to address security concerns following the Feb. 13 killing of Kim Jong Nam, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s estranged half brother, the minister told reporters.

Previously, North Koreans could enter Malaysia without a visa and remain for up to 30 days.

On Wednesday, two women were charged with murder for allegedly poisoning Kim by rubbing VX nerve agent on his face at Kuala Lumpur’s international airport.

A North Korean man is also in custody related to the incident.

Malaysian police are still searching for a total of seven North Koreans believed to be linked to the killing.

Among the wanted in the attack is a diplomat at the North Korean embassy in Kuala Lumpur and an airline worker with Air Koryostate national airline.

The aftermath of the high-profile killing has strained diplomatic relations between Pyongyang and Kuala Lumpur. (dpa/NAN)
