Lagos, March 23, 2018 (NAN) A veteran Nollywood actor, Ramsey Noah, on Friday said that the one-on-one competitive nature of squash transformed him to an ardent fan of the sport.
Noah told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on the sidelines of the ongoing Lagos State International Squash Classics that the tournament would serve as a platform to discover budding grassroots talents.
He added that squash was more engaging than football which was more of a shared responsibility compared to squash which thrived on the creativity of each player.
“Squash for me is more like a gladiator’s ring, so, it is more demanding, it is more heart-wrenching, it is more energy sapping than football.
“Most of us got into it based on stamina and the ability to have a good cardio. That is how I got into it, I am a lover of it now ,I am a fan of it.
“I watch all the tournaments, I follow up on the top players in the world, so, I try to see if I can encourage most of our local players in every way I can.
“The sport is just gradually growing in Nigeria and it is taking a little while but with all things said, we are definitely going to get there,’’ he said.
On the quality of Nigerian players participating in the tournament, Noah told NAN that he was impressed with their performance against more experienced players from other countries. (NAN)
