Ibadan, Dec. 15, 2016 (NAN) The Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr Garba Abari, on Thursday urged Nigerians to return to the old and good moral values.
Abari made the call at the National Prayer/Christmas carol and investiture of WAI Brigade patrons organised by the NOA in Ibadan.
“We are so blessed with diverse culture, resources; we shouldn’t import food for any reason, our country is a great one and should not be ignored; we have no reason to be where we are today.
“We need to have a second look and do all we can to return to our former glory and good way of life if we must move forward,” he said.
Abari noted that the event was a historic one as it speaks different stories of the country.
The director-general urged the awardees to continue to be good exemplary citizens and commended the Oyo state NOA for organising such a programme.
Earlier, the state NOA Director, Mrs Dolapo Dosunmu, said no social, economic and political progress could be made in Nigeria without the hand of God.
She said the yuletide provided a unique opportunity for stakeholders to reposition themselves and embrace novel attitude that would make the nation better and stronger.
“We need to draw from God’s message of righteousness enjoined on us to bolster our faith as we pass through a troubled economic situation in the country.
“I have no doubt that God in whom we put our hope will pull us out of the woods and replenish us with all good things of life both as individuals and a nation,” Dosunmu said.
She emphasised that the two people invested as WAI brigade patrons: Prophet Muideen Kasali, the General Overseer of Hour of Mercy Prayer Ministry, and Chief Labake Lawal, were true examples in the society.
“We honour them not only in appreciation of their past giant strides in the agency’s quest for a just society; but to also goad them to redouble efforts in supporting WAI brigade,” she said.
Responding, Kasali urged the government to incorporate the WAI brigade of NOA among the security operatives in the country.
Kasali returned all the glory to God for His mercy, adding that the award is a fulfilment of his dream.
“God said that very soon the economy will experience a drastic change. He will show Nigeria mercy and all the evil prophecies about the country shall never stand.
“Let there be unity and peace in the country, we shouldn’t leave everything to government alone, we all have roles to play to make our society better,” he said. (NAN)
