Yenagoa, Jan. 28, 2017 (NAN) The newly Nigeria Nationwide League (NNWL) registered George Turnah FC of Kolo in Bayelsa, says that no fewer than 100 players have so far turned out for its ongoing screening.
The club’s Head Coach, Mr Ada Gwegwe, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yenagoa on Saturday that the club was committed to making an impact at its debuts in 2016/2017 NNWL.
The coach said that the screening, which kicked off on Jan. 6, was at its Day 22, adding that more players were expected to participate in the exercise.
“This is a new club, we are doing this to get qualified players; well, a good number of them have been identified though the final list has yet to be drawn.
“We have screened over 100 persons and I believe with this exercise, we are going to have a formidable team that will make a difference in Nigeria and beyond.
“I urge the players who have been screened to remain focused so as to be among the lucky players that will be enrolled into the team.
“Be focused for you to be one of the players for topflight football not just in the country, but professionally,’’ Gwegwe said.
He, however, called on other talented players who wish to join the club to avail themselves of the opportunity and participate in the screening.
“What we are looking for is a formidable team, for nowwe have no specific closing date for the screening, we’ll continue until we get the qualified players that we want, that is 30 players,’’ he said. (NAN)
