Abuja, June 29, 2017 (NAN) The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather conditions over the central states on Friday morning with chances of thunderstorms over Abuja, Bida, Minna, Jalingo, Mambilla Plateau and Makurdi.
NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO), on Thursday in Abuja, also predicted localised thunderstorms over Abuja, Lafia, Lokoja, Kaduna, Jos and Ilorin in the afternoon and evening hours.
It added that the central states would have day and night temperatures of 29 to 33 and 18 to 23 degrees Celsius respectively.
The agency predicted that Southern states would experience cloudy morning over the inland states with prospects of thunderstorms over Obudu and Ogoja and rain showers over PortHarcourt, Yenegoa, Calabar and Eket.
It also predicted thunderstorms over Osogbo, Akure, Ado-Ekiti, Obudu, Awka, Onitsha, Benin, Enugu, Abakaliki, Lagos, Ijebu-Ode, Port-Harcourt, Yenegoa, Eket and Calabar during afternoon and evening hours.
It also predicted that the southern states would have day and night temperatures of 30 to 32 and 22 to 23 degrees Celsius respectively.
According to NiMet, northern states will experience cloudy morning with prospects of localised thunderstorms over Yelwa, Sokoto, Katsina, Gusau, Maiduguri and Yola in the afternoon and evening hours.
“The region will also have day and night temperatures of 31 to 37 and 21 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.
“The entire country is characterized with moisture laden winds which are favorable for thunderstorms and rains over most parts of the country in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted. (NAN)
