Katsina, March 2, 2018 (NAN) Dr Sani Abdullahi, Chairman, Panel of Judges, National Quran’ic Recitation Competition, said Nigerians have improved tremendously in the art of teaching, learning and recitation of the Holy Quran.
Abdullahi disclosed said in an interview with newsmen on Friday in Katsina that the improvement was manifested in the high number of participants yearly, for the competition.
According to him, most of the participants from 32 states in the country were excellent in observing the rules and regulations guiding the recitation of the Qur’an.
“In the past, very few states take part in the recitation competition, but now we have states in the South East and South-South in the competition.
“These states are also doing their best and this shows an improvement in the Qura’n recitation.
“There is a great improvement in the teaching and learning of the Holy Quran in the country and that improvement is one of the aims of the competition,’’ the panel chairman said.
Also speaking, Sheikh Sadiq Saddiq, the judge saddled with responsibility of making corrections during the competition, said participants were graded based on the strength of memorisation, observation of rules and articulation in the course of the recitation.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the competition was concluded with prayers offered for peace and prosperity of the country.
The distribution of prizes to winners will be performed on Saturday by the Sultan of Sokoto, Dr Sa’ad Abubakar. (NAN)
