Abuja, July 11, 2018 (NAN) Some Nigerian Artists have taken to Twitter to showcase their intriguing and creative paintings, drawings, photographs and designs with the hash tag #WeareNigerianCreatives.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the trend, which started randomly in early this year, features works of Nigerian hyper-realistic artists, photographers, graphic designers, fashion designers and illustrators alongside other visual artists.
The artists and designer post their works on twitter with the hash tag which are in turn critiqued by members of the public.
NAN reports that #WeareNigerianCreatives, has drawn a lot of public attention such that several artists from the movement were featured on CNN.
Among them are 11 year old Kareem Warris, who received acclaim for drawing the French President Emmanuel Macron and Silas Onoja, a popular hyper-realistic artist.

Some Nigerian in their reactions, have praised the ingenuity of the artists.

@Iam_PeterROCK wrote, “These are masterpieces. Invoking emotions and thoughts.”
NAN also reports that the movement has created a vibrant marketplace for the artists as works are purchased off Twitter directly from the artist that had exhibited them online.
@Gokside tweeted at an abstract artist who makes wallpapers and decorative stones, “I can’t stop looking at these beautiful works of art. How can I get some?”
@Donsheldon tweeted at a board game designer, “What’s the easiest way to get your products in the United States?”

Meanwhile, some have also pushed for better enabling environment for the artists so that the business side of their art can thrive.
@Dave24omo tweeted, “This is really creative. I wish these standard art galleries will display these wonderful creations to attract and enhance tourism in the country.”
@Areogunboy said, “You #WeareNigerianCreatives guys should come up with something powerful. Something like an art museum, house of creative arts. Stunning arts, don’t you think?.”(NAN)
