Abuja, Nov 6, 2017 (NAN) Mr Samson Osagie, the Executive Director, Marketing and Business Development, Nigeria Communication Satellite Company Ltd. (NIGCOMSAT) says the company has capacity to service public and private institutions.
Osagie in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja, said that the potential of the company was huge.
“This is the only satellite company that helps in servicing the Nigerian security architecture and has the capacity to provide huge commercial value for both public and private institutions.
“This is in terms of provision of bandwidth, broadband network services for both private and public end users.
“In terms of the provision of broadcast network, it has the capacity to service telecoms services across more than 34 countries in Africa and china.
“The government of President Muhammadu Buhari is making frantic effort to inaugurate two additional satellites in order to boost our services because every satellite has its life span.
“This one was inaugurated in 2011 and became operational in 2012, it is a 15 years life span, and we are doing about 6 years now.
“So, we are into all these in order to ensure that we continue to indulge in the services that satellite communications had to provide in order to fast-track the digital technology drive that our country needs to get involved in.’’
Osagie said that recently, NIGCOMSAT got a boost with the signing of a mutual back up service agreement with Belintersat, operators of Belintersat-1, a communication satellite of the Belarusian Peoples Republic.
According to Osagie, the complaint from most Nigerians is that NIGCOMSAT do not have a back up service.
“We are already working in partnership with others, as we speak now, customers to NIGCOMSAT and potential customers have no reason to worry about the unreliability or the unlikely event that may hamper their businesses. (NAN)
