Benin, Dec. 25, 2016 (NAN) A Benin-based NGO, Project Charilove, has appealed to wealthy individuals and organisations in the country to help children with disabilities to enable them to realise their innate potentials.
The Founder of the NGO, Mr Chris Omusi, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin on Sunday.
Omusi said the current economic recession in the country affected people with disabilities more, pointing out that such people needed more help now to enable them to develop themselves and become self-reliant.
“People should not be concerned only about themselves; they should also invest in the future of the less privileged in the society.
“At Charilove, we are trying to invest in the lives of human beings; the weakest of the weak and poorest of the poor.
“We are doing the little we can to make the children develop interest in schooling and to utilise their talents.
“We have given virtually all that we have and are calling on well meaning Nigerians to support this cause,’’ he said.
Omusi said that the foundation which was established in 1990 had groomed persons with disabilities who are now doing well in sports, entertainment and the academia. (NAN)
