Empowerment

Kano, Feb. 19, 2018(NAN) The Kano State chapter of the Oyo State Youths Association in Northern Nigeria (OYINN), has empowered four widows with grinding machines as part of its to support them to be self-reliant.
Similarly, the association has awarded scholarship to two orphans who have completed their primary school.
The Patron of the Association, Engr. Murtala Alimi disclosed this presenting the items to the beneficiaries at the association’s Secretariat in Sabon Gari area in Kano on Monday.
According to him, the beneficiaries of the scholarship would enjoy the gesture from their Junior Secondary School (JSS) one to Senior Secondary School (SSS) three.
“our main purpose is to have unity, development among ourselves, help the less privileged to cater for their daily needs and to enhance the up-bringing of the union.
“The empowerment is not only for Oyo State indigenes, it will be extended to other people across the country. One of the beneficiaries given scholarship is from Osun State and we will continue to stretch our helping hand to those in need”, he said.
The association’s Patron urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the grinding machines given to them, calling on them not sell what is given to them rather they should make better use of it.
He said ,”the empowerment is designed to enable widows know they are not abandoned after the death of their husbands, the gesture will better their source of livelihood”.
The patron called on other associations to emulate OYINN by helping the less privileged so as to contribute their quarter in eradicating poverty in the society.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in December 2017, OYINN also empowered 10 widows with grinding machine each.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hajiya Mulika Folawiyo expressed her appreciation and commended the association for the giving them the support.(NAN)
