Obi,(Nasarawa State) June 25, 2018 (NAN) A Catholic-based NGO, Community Base and Support Programme (COBASP), says it has donated N500,000 to 50 women in Nasarawa State as part of its family support programme.
Rev.Sister Joevita Ogu, Executive Director of COBASP, disclosed this while disbursing the money on Monday in Agwatashi area of Obi Local Government Area of the state to the beneficiaries.
Ogu explained that the disbursement was also one of the components of the economic empowerment programme of the group.
The executive director said the grant was aimed at providing support for the disadvantaged and vulnerable persons in the society with N10, 000 cash each to boost their household income generation.
She said that with the financial assistance, the beneficiaries would be able to meet up with their needs and improve their living conditions.
She also that the NGO had given similar gesture to so many other communities in the state.
Ogu urged the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously and not to use it on unprofitable ventures.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Roseline Agwan, expressed gratitude to the NGO for the gesture and promised that the beneficiaries would use the money judiciously.
