Lafia, Sept. 27, 2017 (NAN) Global Survival for Grassroots Development and Employment Initiative (GSGDEI), a Non Governmental Organigation (NGO), has called for collaboration between relevant stakeholders in the country, to address the plight of the vulnerable in the society.
Mr Dalhatu Sule, Deputy National Chairman of the organisation, made the call on Wednesday at the NGO’s executive meeting in Lafia.
He said that such collaboration would ultimately bring about improvement in the living standard of the most vulnerable in the society.
He disclosed that the organisation was established with the sole aim of complementing government’s efforts at empowering the vulnerable groups in different ways to improve their standard of living.
Sule said “the organisation is out to address the plight of all orphans and internally displaced persons, among other vulnerable groups in the society, to give them a sense of belonging for the overall development of the country.
“We are all aware that this organisation was formed with the aim of promoting peace, unity and progress of our dear country, Nigeria, as well as to assist widows, orphans and the needy in the society,” he said.
Sule, however, noted that the vulnerable in the society would feel the positive impact of the activities of the NGO more, if other relevant stakeholders were to collaborate among themselves with the sole aim of providing succour to the needy.
The deputy chairman appealed to Nigerians to continue to live in peace, be law abiding, respect constituted authorities, avoid negative tendencies in the interest of national unity and development.
“There is the need for Nigerians to embrace and tolerate one another irrespective of their ethnic, religion and political affiliation because no meaningful development could be achieved in an atmosphere of rancour and confusion,” he added.
He reinstated the organisation’s commitment to initiate people-oriented projects for the overall development of the country.
Also, the Nasarawa State Chairman of the organisation, Shehu Abdullahi, advised youths to engage themselves in meaningful ventures and become self reliant, to be able to contribute their quota to national development.
Abdullahi also commended the national leadership of the organisation for its efforts at ensuring that orphans, widows and other vulnerable groups were catered for even in difficult times.(NAN)
