Akun (Nasarawa State), Jan. 1, 2017 (NAN) Mr Peter Angbazo, the new District Head of Wakama, Nasarawa State, has urged Nigerians to respect constituted authorities in the interest of peace and speedy development.
Angbazo made the call on Sunday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at his palace in Wakama, Akun Development Area of the state.
Angbazo also advised Nigerians to embrace agriculture, skills acquisition and other vocational jobs so as to become self reliant and contribute more effectively to the country’s quest for food security and recession.
“Our role is to preach peace and ensure that people tolerate one another irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliation.
“This is because no meaningful development could be achieved in any society without peace as peace is priceless.
“Peace is a necessary requirement for the development of any nation, hence there is need for people to embrace peace at all the time,” he said.
The traditional ruler also appealed to government at all levels to give more attention to agriculture if the country must live beyond oil.
“No society can live comfortably without agriculture; agriculture is the major source of livelihood of every family.
“If youths and other Nigerians go back to farm, it will not only reduce overdependence on oil, but will also fight poverty.
“The present unemployment and economic recession facing the country will be a thing of the past, if people embrace agriculture,” he said.
Angbazo commended his constituents for living in peace and called on them to sustain and enhance the tempo of unity, development, ethnic, religious and political affiliations.
Besides, he enjoined his subjects and other Nigerians to support their leaders to enable them succeed in delivering the dividends of democracy. (NAN)
