New Ebonyi CP seeks collaboration with media in crime fighting

Abakaliki, Jan. 30, 2017 (NAN) The new Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi, Mr Titus Sumba-Lamorde, on Monday pledged to reduce crime in the state to the barest minimum.

Addressing newsmen in Abakaliki, Sumba-Lamorde said that officers and men of the command would adhere strictly to the rule of law in discharging their constitutional responsibilities.

“The command under my control and leadership will ensure that Ebonyi is weeded of crime and criminal elements and we appeal for collaboration with the press to ensure success in the fight.

“We will partner with the press and ensure that proper synergy is built between the two institutions to achieve better result in crime fighting and control.

“I urge you to always verify stories concerning the activities of the command from the appropriate quarters before publication,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sumba-Lamorde replaced Mrs Stella Ibekwe-Addallah, who is attending a course at the Nigerian Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, near Jos.

Until his latest posting, Sumba-Lamorde was the Commissioner in charge of communication, Force Headquarters, Abuja. (NAN)
