Lafia, March 20, 2017 (NAN) The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) on Monday commenced a five-day training for 50 women in Nasarawa State on spices production.
Alhaji Dauda Idris-Wase, the state NDE Coordinator said the women would be trained in the production of “curry powder, black pepper and complete mix seasoning’’ to enable them become self-reliant.
Idris-Wase said that the aim of the training was empower the women to contribute to national development.
“NDE has the responsibility of training people, especially youths and women in different skills to make them self-reliant in order to contribute to national development,’’ he said.
Idris-Wase advised women and youth to acquire skills and not wait for white collar jobs which were not readily available.
He noted that the high rate of unemployment in the country had pushed some people, especially youths into crime such as armed robbery, drug and human trafficking, among others. (NAN)
