NCWS tasks parents to promote girl-child education

Doma (Nasarawa State) May 12, 2017 (NAN) The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Nasarawa State chapter, on Friday tasked parents to promote girl-child education and ensure proper upbringing of their children for a better society.

Mrs Aishatu Isah-Idoma, the State President of the societies gave the task during a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Interim Management Committee of Doma Local Government Area in Doma,Mr Danlami Ogah.

According to her, education is the bedrock of development in every society, hence the need for parents to make it a top priority for their children.

She also said that the development of any society depended on the quality of education given to the children.

The state president told women that her visit  the area to thank them for their support during and after her election.

She urged them to sustain the spirit of togetherness, irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliations.

“NCWS is a non–political and non religious organisation, but out to protect the interest of women by supporting them whenever they faced any challenge.

“The only way to achieve success is for women to sustain the spirit of togetherness, irrespective of differences.

“We are known to be very important in the society as we have contributed a lot to its development.

“I urge all of us to continue to contribute our quota to the development of our areas, the state and the country at large,” she said.

Isah-Idoma appealed to the government at all levels to consider more women in terms of appointment, to enable them benefit from dividend of democracy.

She identified office accommodation as one of challenges facing the association and appealed to well meaning individuals to come to the aid of the organisation.

Responding, Ogah thanked Isah-Idoma for the visit and promised to support the activities of the women societies.

The council boss restated his administration’s commitment to continue to key into programmes and policies that would better the lives of women in the state. (NAN)
