Abuja, Jan. 9, 2018 (NAN) The National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to reshape the nation’s security to guarantee safety of women and children.

Mrs Gloria Shoda, the President of NCWS said in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, that recent killings in Benue, Kaduna and Rivers States were worrisome and unacceptable.

She said there was need to deploy adequate security to the affected states to avert further killings and safeguard the lives of residents.

The NCWS president said the government must fish out those behind the attacks and prosecute them.

Shoda said the killings have displaced thousands of persons, particularly women and children, and urged the Federal Government to respond quickly to the humanitarian challenges.

“We are condemning the killings not only in Benue, but across all the states where killings had taken place.

“We therefore implore the federal government and the international partners to spread their humanitarian intervention to all the affected states in the country, “she said.

Shoda urged the Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, to also push for enhanced security presence in Benue and other parts of the country to ensure protection of women and children. (NAN)
