Sensitisation
By Monday Adigun
Benin, Jan. 24, 2017 (NAN) The National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) South-South Zonal Centre, Benin, has expressed readiness to sensitise rural and urban residents in the area, on the need to donate blood through the appropriate channels.
Mr Peter Ezemede, the Focal Person for the centre, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Benin that NBTS will soon commence its first sensitisation campaign for the year.
According to him, the residents need to know the risk involved in patronising commercial blood donors.
He said the commercial blood donor owners did not care about human life, but the profit they would make at the end of the transaction.
Ezemede, however, identified some challenges which included logistics and vehicle for transportation as major challenges facing the centre.
He appealed to the media to assist the centre in its enlightenment campaign against commercial blood transfusion and unauthorised blood centres. (NAN)
