Nasarawa State Govt begins work on 2 new command secondary schools

Akwanga (Nasarawa state) Oct.5, 2017 (NAN) The Nasarawa State Government said on Thursday that it had started the construction of two new command secondary schools to promote technical and science education in the state and the country at large.

The state Deputy Governor, Mr Silas Agara, disclosed this when he led other top government functionaries to inspect the ongoing work at Command Technical Secondary School, Rinze in Akwanga West Development Area of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the deputy governor and his entourage inspected the administrative block, laboratory, classrooms and hostels, among others in the school.

Agara, who reiterated government’s continued commitment in the education sector, assured of timely release of fund  for the projects.

“This inspection visit is to see things by ourselves and to ensure that the work is done according to specification in order to ensure smooth commencement of academic activities in the two new command secondary schools this year by God’s grace.

“I want to express our satisfaction with the pace and quality of work done by the contractor so far; the contractor has adhered to standard and specification as we are all aware that Gov. Tanko Al-makura is well known for standard and quality job.

“Education is one of the important areas of His Excellency and Nasarawa State is the first state  in the country to have three command secondary schools; that shows that the Army authority has seen something and commitment in us.

“They are comfortable with the first command secondary school in Lafia which has already commenced academic session, they have seen the quality, standard and our commitment toward the education sector,” he said.

Agara tasked the contractor handling the projects to step up efforts, to deliver the work on schedule in line with the expectation of Gov. Almakura’s administration in the state.

The deputy governor called on the people of the state to continue to live in peace and tolerate one another, irrespective of ethnic, religious or political affiliation.

The site supervisor of the project, Mr Benjamin Joe, assured the state government of standard job.

The second command Science Secondary School is sited in Agwada Development Area. (NAN)
