Nasarawa State: Aisha Foundation trains 82 women, youths on skills acquisition

Karu (Nasarawa State) Nov. 10, 2017 (NAN) A Nasarawa State-based NGO, Aisha Foundation, has trained more than 82 unemployed women and youths in different skills within the year.

Mr Amos Magadus, the state foundation Coordinator, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Karu Local Government area of the state on Friday.

NAN reports that the foundation was established by Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, a politician in Akwanga Local Government area.

Magadus that the beneficiaries were trained in hairdressing, tailoring, fashion designing, beads and detergent making, among others.

Magadus said that the training was part of the foundation’s support to government’s efforts at creating jobs for women and youths.

“The training of the 82 unemployed women and youths was held at Auta Balefi in Karu Local Government and aimed at complementing government’s efforts in creating job opportunities for the teeming unemployed Nigerians.

“As we are all aware, there is high rate of unemployment and poverty which has degenerated into violent crimes, insecurity, armed robbery, drug and human trafficking, among others.

“The NGO was established in order to preach peace as well as to engage women, youths and the less-privileged in the society to improve their standard of living.

“It is better to teach someone how to catch fish than to give someone fish to eat, hence, the need for the training,” he said.

Magadus called on the beneficiaries to use the knowledge the gained during the training to become employers’ of labour and train others for socio-economic development of the state.

The coordinator, however, called on the people of the state to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and live in peace, irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliations.(NAN)
