Lafia, March.1, 2017 (NAN) The Nasarawa State Police Command on Wednesday said it would restrategise to effectively tackle the increasing cases of armed robbery and kidnapping in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police (CP), Alhaji Sadiq Abubakar-Bello, made the pledge
when he briefed journalists in Lafia.
He expressed worries over the increasing wave of crimes in the state.
Abubakar-Bello said that the command would ensure security of lives and properties as well as bring about peace and development in the state.
“I believe we need to restrategise and move with the people who will give us the necessary information on how to tackle the security challenges facing the state.
“The command has mapped out strategy to tackle the rampant cases of armed-robbery, rape, kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state,” he said.
The commissioner said officers and men of the command had been ordered to raid all the hideouts of criminals in the state.
Abubakar-Bello called on the residents to have confidence on the ability of the command to get rid of the criminals.
He urged them not to relent in volunteering information to the command to enable it to clamp down on hoodlums.
The commissioner urged the people to always be vigilant, conscious of the happenings around them and remain peaceful and law-abiding.
“I urge the residents to report any suspicious act or movement of persons to the police for prompt action. The information will help a lot in tackling the crimes,” he added.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that gunmen, on February 17, kidnapped a popular traditional herbalist, Dr Dennis Nakowa, who was later found dead a week after along Gudi-Akwanga road.
Also residents of Akwanga, Wamba, Toto, Mararaba Udege have been complaining in recent weeks of incessant criminal activities in the areas in recent times. (NAN)
