Farmer

Awe (Nasarawa State) June 6, 2017 (NAN) A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Tanko Tunga, on Tuesday distributed 400 bags of rice seedlings and herbicides worth N2.5million to no fewer than 400 farmers in Awe North constituency of the state.
Tunga appealed to the farmers to plant the seedlings to boost rice production in the area and the state at large.
He advised them to embrace farming in order to achieve food security in the state and the country at large.
The lawmaker said that for the country to achieve food sufficiency, youths and other Nigerians must return to farm.
“No society can live comfortably without agriculture; agriculture is the major source of livelihood of every family and nation,“ he said.
Alhaji Hashimu Janda, Chairman, Interim Management Committee of Awe Local Government Area of the state, advised Nigerians to pray for peace and unity of the country.
He also urged them to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliations.
Alhaji Salisu Na’Allah, one of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of the others, promised to use the items for the purpose they were meant for.
He thanked the lawmaker for the gesture and called for its sustenance.
