Lafia, July 3, 2018 (NAN) The Nasarawa State Government says it will commence academic session in the two additional Comprehensive Special Schools for the physically challenged persons in the state.
Prof. Jonathan Ayuba, Commissioner for Special Education, Science and Technology, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lafia.
According to him, works in the two Special Schools at Gudi Community of Akwanga Local Government Area (LGA) and Keffi Local Government Area have already reached 90 per cent completion.
“Equipment needed are already bought and awaiting completion of the projects. One of the new schools will be a junior secondary while the other will strictly be senior secondary school.
“The one in Lafia will take care of primary school section while the other two will be for junior and senior secondary schools respectively,” he said.
The commissioner also said that the ministry was working in collaboration with the Ministry of Education to get all the courses at the three technical colleges in the state accredited.
“Some of the courses were given interim accreditation by the National Board for Technical Education and we are making efforts to get full accreditation for all of their courses.
“The state government will also upgrade facilities in the technical colleges, train and retrain the manpower for better service delivery,’’ he said.
Ayuba explained that the government has already procured the needed equipment and was awaiting their installations for the smooth take-off of the institute. (NAN)
