Lagos, Nov. 25, 2016 (NAN) The International Canoe Federation (ICF) on Friday said it had added the continental presidents of the sport to its executive committee, as part of a new structure of the organisation.
An online portal, Insidethegames on Friday said the approval was given to the ICF Board of Directors proposal at the governing body’s Extraordinary Congress in Baku, Azerbaijan.
According to the portal, the continental presidents of America, Asia, Africa, Europe and Oceania will all feature on the Executive Committee.
It said that other members include the Athletes’ Committee, Canoe Slalom and Canoe Sprints, ICF president, secretary general, treasurer and three vice-presidents.
The portal, however, noted that the members are also on the Executive Committee.
It said that the governance structure changes would assure representation for both genders across the three elected vice-president positions.
Insidethegames added that election into various posts in the international body would be held later today before the congress ends on Nov. 26. (NAN)
