Abuja, March 9, 2017 (NAN) Popular movie producer, actress and singer, Josephine Abraham, also known as “Anumbor, has called on women in Nigeria to assist the less privileged women in the society.

Anumbor, who is also Chief Executive Officer of Love to the World Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), made the call in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.

The actress said women were stakeholders in every sphere of human societal growth and development adding that they were indispensable to the success of humanity.

“Every man has a woman in his life, because she could be his sister, mother, wife, niece or sister-in-law and so on; women add special colours to our world.

“That is why we should honour women and give them a place of pride in the society.

“To us women, let’s appreciate ourselves and help one another. Those of us who are empowered should assist the less privileged among us to achieve social, economic and political relevance through business and education.

She urged that women as a matter of fact, should be empowered as much as possible because in any society where women are empowered, “there is usually less violence,’’ she added.

She said, it was regrettable that most women across the globe were not educated.

“Most women are not educated due to lack of access to education as a result of some misogynistic culture and traditions relegating women to the background of events.

“That is why my movie, `Searching: The Story of the Girl Child’ was produced to address.’’

Anumbor urged that women should look out to assist one another, saying that she had enjoyed support and encouragement from big sisters in her life in music production, TV shows, and movies among others.

“I specially celebrate and appreciate the wife of the president, Mrs Aisha Buhari and every other woman today,’’ she said. (NAN)
