Motorcyclist in court for alleged reckless riding, knocking down pedestrian

Lagos, Feb. 8, 2017(NAN) For allegedly riding a motorcycle in a reckless manner  and knocking down a pedestrian, one  Chibuzor Sunday,30, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, who resides at No. 30, Ebu St., Funmilayo area of Agege, a suburb of Lagos is facing a two- count charge bordering on reckless riding.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Rachel Williams, told the court that the offences were committed on Jan. 28 on Ipaja Road, Agege, Lagos.

Williams said that the accused rode his motorcycle in a reckless manner and knocked down a pedestrian, one Mrs Hellena Effiong.

“The complainant’s right leg was broken,’’ she said.

The offences contravened Sections 25 and 29(9) of the Lagos Traffic Law, 2004.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mrs L.Y. Balogun, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till Feb. 16 for mention. (NAN)
