Akure,Jan.25,2017(NAN) A 20 year-old commercial motorcyclist, Anaz Tukur, who allegedly stole a motorcycle valued at N85, 000, was on Wednesday remanded in prison on the orders of an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, said the accused should be kept behind bars until when the bail application would be considered.
“It is a bailable offence but because of language barrier he needs an interpreter, who will translate his offences to him.
“The accused should be remanded at Olokuta Prisons till Feb.7 when the issue of bail will be considered,”Bob-Manuel said.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Martins Olowofeso, said the accused conspired with another man still at large to steal a motorcycle marked ALG 463 QC property of Waheed Ajao valued at N85,000.
Olowofeso alleged that the accused committed the offences on Jan. 21 at Shasha Market, Oba-Ile near Akure.
The offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code,Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The court adjourned the case to Feb. 7. (NAN)
