Ikeja, Aug. 24, 2018 (NAN) A 28-year-old motor boy, Mojeed Sule, who pleaded guilty to stealing seven dozens of chairs valued at N252,000, which he rented, was on Friday remanded in Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos.

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, which gave the ruling, said the accused should remain behind bars pending the presentation of facts.

The magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola, however, fixed Aug. 29 for his sentence.

Sule, who resides at No 3, Musibau Oseni St., Off Yusuf St., Ijaiye, Lagos, had pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Mike Unah, told the court that Sule committed the offences with others still at large on July 19, at No 8, Akinfaseyi St., Off Eyiade, Fisher Estate, Ijaiye-Ojokoro, Lagos.

According to him, the accused stole seven dozen of chairs valued at N252,000, which he rented for naming ceremony, property of Mr Kolade Oni.

“When Oni went to the venue of the ceremony Sule gave him, he discovered that nothing of such was going on there; he then reported the case at the police station,” Unah said.

The prosecutor said that during police interrogation, the accused confessed to have sold the chairs.

The offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates a three-year imprisonment for stealing.(NAN)
