Abuja, May 16, 2018 (NAN) The Emir of Jiwa in Abuja, Alhaji Idris Musa has appealed to the National Assembly to pass a bill establishing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Primary Health Care Development Board for the benefit of citizenry.

Musa made the appeal while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after a stakeholders’ dialogue organised by FCT Administration in collaboration with Health Policy Plus (HP+), an NGO in Abuja on Wednesday.

He explained that FCT was a constituency of all Nigerians being the the place where all people from different parts of the country reside, hence the need for legislators to work with their counterparts from the territory on the speedy passage of the bill.

NAN recalls that FCT Administration started the process in 2015, which led to the submission of executive bill to the National Assembly in April this year.

The Monarch explained that when such bill was passed and assented to by the President, the FCT would be able to access funds from development partners and the Federal Government.

“FCT is a place that host different tribes from various parts of the country and they will all benefit from our health care services.

“In view of this, all lawmakers in Nigeria should support to ensure the bill was given a speedy passage.

“I am ready to do everything possible to work with necessary stakeholders for the passage of the bill,” he said.

The Chairman of traditional ruling council in FCT and Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Yunusa said he would mobilise all traditional rulers in the territory and talk to all major stakeholders involved to ensure the passage of the bill.

Yunusa Said that FCT could not have a robust and functional primary health care until its board was given recognition by the law. (NAN)
