Omu-Aran (Kwara), March 2, 2017 (NAN) Oba Daniel Dada, the traditional ruler of Egosi Kingdom in Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara,  has called for effective synergy between stakeholders in education to improve learning.

The monarch made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in his palace.

According to him, there is urgent need for workable and strategic collaboration between the Federal Government and states’ ministries of education to move the sector forward.

Dada said that the call became necessary in view of the falling standard of education, particularly at the grassroots.

“My call is also informed by the need for stakeholders to align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SUG) initiative on education to achieve redress,’’ he said.

Dada said that the state of facilities in public schools were source of concern and worry to stakeholders.

The traditional leader said the development was as a result of neglect of global acceptable education standard and practice as championed by the UN.

Dada suggested periodic exchange of ideas at both local and national levels to address the underlining factors militating against the sector.

“I think the Federal Government, being the mastermind of the education policy formulation, should also not shy away from assisting states to ensure its implementation.

“The road to development of any country, no doubt, depend to a greater extent its level of attainment in the education sector.

“Since no nation can be said to be above the quality of its education standard, it is therefore imperative for the stakeholders to always rub minds for the overall benefit of the sector,’’ he said.

Dada said that the gap between the Federal Government controlled unity schools was too wide when compared with states run public schools in terms of learning and infrastructure.

“This is clearly not the educational development dream of our foremost founding fathers,” he said.

Dada called for workable synergy between government, private school proprietors and community leaders to achieve the desired aims and objectives.

He advised stakeholders to avoid any form of rivalry in the education sector, describing such practice as, “unnecessary and unethical for a safe and qualitative learning environment.” (NAN)
